The Relation between Optimism and Weight Loss
Some people don’t believe in the effect of the positive energy that comes from us humans as a result of positive thinking and optimism. And they also give us the confidence we need to achieve our goals, and they ignite out motivation to reach the desired goals. Although recent researches showed that an optimistic person actually has better chances in losing weight than a pessimistic. Also being filled with optimism can help you to build a large social network , and will increase your feelings of satisfaction which leads to longer lives and decreases the chances of depression and heart problems. After stating all the above, you have absolutely no reason to not to be an optimistic, as it will affect your life, and will affect your weight loss plans as well.

As stated above, positive thinking emits energy that effects as physiologically and medically, but these facts have been re searched again to be re-evaluated by Hitomi Saito in Doshisha University in Japan. He did a research that included one hundred and one overweight patients. The research lasted for six months, in which they researched the results of personal characteristics on the weight loss of the patients. The patients went through a personality test to discover the traits of each patient before undergoing a weight loss course that included food, workout and counseling with a specialist.
After the re-search period was over, the evaluation of the patients’ stated that patients who had self confident due to heavy counseling did lose more weight other than people who weren’t. On the contrary, people who already had self confidence, and were self-oriented, didn’t succeed in losing weight, due to over confidence.
And the results did prove the truth in old researches that stated that some negative feelings can have a positive effect on weight loss or any other behavior, because this negative feeling makes the person more caring when it comes to his problem.
The conclusion of Hitomi’s research was the following:-
It’s better to develop self confidence after a course of a therapy and consoling, because it puts you on the right track, rather than being over confident and positive without guidance. But this success of the therapy isn’t all about psychological concepts, but also the effect of the presence of an excellent medical team with the patient, this plays an important role.
After these results, people start to wonder if self confidence has any role in effecting the weight loss plans, the answer to this question is, that it all depends on the type and characteristics of the optimism that an individual have. This means that everyone’s optimism is different than the other; the golden difference is that optimism for some people means that they believe that they will succeed; others believe that they will succeed easily. And this separates a realistic successful optimist from a rather failed one.
Unrealistic people with unrealistic optimism always underestimate any problems or setbacks that they face, they think that talking about the problems and caring for them is negative thinking, and they think it interferes with their goals. On the contrary, realistic ones care a lot about their setbacks and the problems they face, because anything that threatens their healthy shape they are so eager to achieve has to be dealt with care. That’s why they are always honest with themselves.
That’s why it’s clear that optimism can really affect your weight loss plans, but only when included with a good attitude and an honest personality. And optimism helps you decide on your goals, and it helps you to reach it and enjoy it. Be optimistic, be healthy.
